The best (and worst) 15th Ave restaurant you’ve never heard of

Sure, you know Chutney’s, Jamjuree, Liberty’s sushi, 22 Doors, Oly Pizza, soup at the Hopvine, Hillside Quickie, delivery from Palermo, tea sandwiches at Remedy, all you can eat jelly beans at Red Balloon. But few have experienced the most exclusive dining establishment on 15th Ave.

Rainbow Express provides room service at the hospital here at 15th and John. Unless you’ve been a patient at Group Health — or delivered your baby there — you’ve probably not sampled the little-talked-about kitchen. We’re not really recommending that you do — more lording over you the fact that we’ve found a foodie destination so far off the beaten path. Still, should you put in the effort to experience Rainbow Express, we recommend the vegetarian quesadillas paired with a slice of industrial style chocolate cake and a percocet. Delicious!

For that all-important post-partum chocolate rush you can do no better than Eugene, Oregon’s legendary Euphoria Truffles.

For our first-born, in Eugene, I picked them up at the “factory” on the way home. For the 2nd, in Seattle, I had the good luck to find them in the only store open as I wandered Madison late at night.
