Ah, neighbor Jeanine. If only she understood. We were content lurking in the shadows, toiling away to bring you all the glorious minutiae of Capitol Hill Seattle. But neighbor Jeanine wanted us to be more. First, she wanted to meet us to do something small and neighborly like swapping used books. It sounded, nice, we said. But we were afraid of something. Not about Jeanine. About us. We knew there wouldn’t be anything small about it. So we put it off.

So when Jeanine asked, hey, when can CHS readers meet baby Bowie? — well, we felt that fear again. Nothing about this would be small. We puff everything to its grandest scale possible. Neighbor Jeanine had no idea what she was asking for.

The CHS Book & Beer Swap
Monday, Dec. 17 6:30p to 8:30ish @ Smith on 15th Ave E.
We’ll have a table staked out and a pile of paperbacks. You stop by, say hey and trade for one of your books. Or find a nearby table and put out your stack of books and we’ll come over to bug you! We’ll also have little Bowie on hand to sign your books. Bring a crayon and your imagination.

+ Totally informal — our organization consists of finding a table at Smith and remembering to bring books
+ Books traded for books or beer only. No children for books. No money for books.
