Every neighborhood needs a neighborhood blog AND a neighborhood message board

We created the CHS Forums message board last month as an experiment to see what neighbors would do with a chance to talk amongst themselves without a blogging blabbermouth to get in the way. Goody, goody — a happy byproduct of the new board is all sorts of groovy statistics showing how people are putting the Forums to use. Here are the numbers:

We’re up to 78 members and while things have definitely quieted down after an initial surge of enthusiasm, have to say we’re mostly pleased with the results. People have stuff to talk about — and most of it is interesting. Also, check out that male to female ratio — good balance :)

To the right, you can see a table of the most active ‘posters’ so far. We’ve been tossing around ideas on all sorts of neighborhood topics. Here are a few of the threads that have gained the most attention:

There have also been a few polls for those of you who don’t get their fill from CHS’s online polling.

Perhaps the best outgrowth of this experiment thus far has been the expansion of the ‘borders’ of focus for CHS from the 15th/19th Ave zone to more areas of Capitol Hill. We’ve written in the past about the difficulties of writing about the entirety of Capitol Hill — the message board is a small step forward in putting all-Hill topics in the conversation.
