Lying Dogs Sleep Exhibit at Victrola

Tomorrow is the last day to catch Jody Joldersma’s exhibit at Victrola on 15th. Seattle Art News described her work thusly: “Her pieces are dark, yet whimsical visions of the internal lives of strange people and animals.” On her own website, Joldersma discusses her influences:  “Raised by a liberal hippie single mother in a strange conservative community in the epicenter of the Pennsylvania Dutch region, my work is a product of religious harassment and general republican insanity. I learned to keep my mouth sealed in an environment where feminism was a naughty word, the world was sure to end tomorrow, and Democrats were creatures of night searching for unsuspecting fetuses to abort. Suffice it to say I quickly removed myself from said community and joined the rest of the deviants in New York City where I graduated from Pratt Institute in 1998.”
