Police scanner plus mid-year SPD stats

Here’s what the cops of Capitol Hill dealt with on a chilly Thursday. SPD also has released crime stats for the first 6 months of 2008 so we’ll pore through those and get an analysis together soon hopefully. There’s also a whole new system of ‘beats’ for the precincts so we’ll write that up too. Unfortunately, all the changes make year-over-year analysis very difficult any level but city-wide reporting.

Here’s what SPD says about that — overall, SPD says crime was down in first half of ’08 vs. the same periods in ’07 and ’06. Meanwhile, ugly rape data. Be interested to know if any of the remaining big media outlets will write that up.
