What you would change about CHS

There are still a few more days to participated in the CHS Census 2009, flawed as a few questions might be.

We have about 250 respondents so far. One question is an open-ended opportunity for you to provide feedback about CHS. I’ll share all the data from the census when it’s complete but here’s a sneak peek Wordle style at the kinds of things you’re telling me need to be fixed on CHS.

My favorite piece of feedback so far called for fewer ‘self important’ posts on the blog about the blog. Sorry. Here’s the second in two days. Can’t help it.

I’m sure this will provide cover for me to also post about the fact that CHS content is featured in the Capitol Hill Times this week. Check page 3. Start of a new relationship between CHS and CHT. Cool to see our stuff on paper :)

I would just like to reiterate what I said in the census. Asides from my issues with the design of the website, I think CHS would definitely get more [direct] visits from me if it had more Cap Hill resources. (I subscribe to CHS using Google Reader) Whether that means tighter integration with Yelp for restaurant reviews, or the Stranger for events, the possibilities are endless. Right now, CHS is just a blog with posts about what’s happening around the Hill, which is awesome in of itself. CHS is a great news source. But it could definitely be awesomer.

I’d like to find better ways to integrate more services like Yelp and flickr, etc. Trying to find ways that bring more value than adding a link to something like Yelp but also don’t just turn CHS into a Yelp and flickr viewer. Waiting for the STranger API in meantime :)

Would like to hear more of your design thoughts — jseattle at gmail if you feel like getting into nitty gritty beyond survey feedback.

I will reiterate what I said… number one on my wish list is subscriptions, so I can easily see comments left on my stories and comments. I think LiveJournal is a perfect example of how to do it right. Or an alternative would be an RSS feed that includes comments.
