Report from Knee High’s first night

Capitol Hill’s restaurant and bar scene is apparently surviving and, possibly, thriving. Another new joint joins the pack — welcome Knee High. We first told you about the new business taking over the old home of Il Forno back in November. Here are a few reports from Knee High’s ‘preview’ night from Zeebloop via Twitter:

@jseattle expected bar w/snacks which they had. i had no food, just a drink and it was okay. expected more than one waitress opening night.

p.s. concept is “speakeasy”. will try them again in a few days. hopefully more staff by then if still as busy. packed 1st night.

There’s the scoop. Speakeasy theme, opening week logistical issues, packed. I’m looking forward to visiting during their “speakeasy theme, got all the logistics down, moderately packed” phase.

Couldn’t find any pictures inside the new place yet so you’ll have to enjoy this shot of Knee High, Inc. “chief experience officer” Jack Valko, instead.

I was there last night too. Good drinks, good experience, more crowded than I expected for a preview. One note on your report: the previous tenant was Il Forno. Il Fornaio is still in business downtown (and in many other places, too).

Thanks for the typo catch. Extra ‘a’ and ‘i’ make big difference

Anyone know what the hours are going to be going forward?

Can’t wait to check it out. I like the idea of a speakeasy feel and I like that it is 2 blocks from my work. I’m a fan already.

I was expecting a quiet first night under the radar, but the event ended up on the slog and there was a line out the door by 8pm. Thanks to all who attended, and to my wife for jumping off the barstool to wait tables (she’s THE BEST). We should get the kinks ironed out and be ready for an official opening the week of March 24.

All the best,

Jack Valko
