Big media takes shine to Capitol Hill currency

Local television likes the Capitol Hill Community Council’s discount bill program we wrote about earlier this week. You can pick up a CHS edition of the bill here.

Here is KOMO TV’s take on the story:

“People don’t understand if they take their business and spend it online and not support businesses that are local, I mean, that money cycles around,” said Jennifer Straight of Hollywood [Video].

Phil Wright, owner of Bliss Soap, said sales have dropped by 35 percent due to the combination of the slumping economy and the noisy construction across the street. He’s had to cut back on employees and expenses.

“I’ve trimmed a lot of fat and I’ve got tons more I can (cut) if I need to, but I don’t need to yet,” he said.

I still have mixed feelings about this sort of thing–seems like other places put a lot of work into similar projects that were only marginally successful.

On the other hand, anything that gets the awesome guy from Bliss on the news is okay with me.
Definitely some good publicity so far. Huzzah, community council!
