This is exciting, but I have to say I still have a problem with her calling it “homemade” when she is just adding flavor to a mix she buys from a dairy…. you don’t see Full Tilt or Husky Deli call theirs “homemade” and they use the same mix. Hmmmmm.

Also, glad she toned down the “organic” mumbo-jumbo after accepting the fact that it is only organic if all of the ingredients are organic…guargum is not exactly organic ; )

Guar gum is not organic? I think you’re jumping to conclusions. It’s ground beans – or you could call them seeds – sounds like it could easily be grown organically to me. Check out the Wikipedia article, and pay attention to the “nutritional and medicinal effects” section.

I am not jumping to conclusions….in addition to guar gum, the dairy also uses non-organic sugar in the milk and other tree gums…. she got caught up on this on her blog when people started to question her “organic” label….maybe there is an organic guar gum that I am not aware of, but considering the fact that Snoqualmie uses non-organic sugar in her mix I strongly doubt they use some crazy organic guar gum and organic milk powder solids…

Don’t get me wrong, I think her ice cream has cool flavors and I will probably go try her new flavors because they sound odd/interesting/intriguing… I am just saying I get annoyed when people false-advertise and saying it is “homemade” makes people think she is in the back mixing sugar and cream and other goodies in to good old-fashioned homemade ice cream and it simply is not the case…. I have no problem with her using the mix from Snoqualmie like Husky Deli, but they sure don’t try and sell theirs as “homemade” and “all organic”…..

Indeed. My favorite brand of corn tortillas at Madison Market are made with organic guar gum

I think it is wrong for Molly Moon to benefit from the consumers interest in organic foods when her ice cream is not organic. Similarly if she is buying her cream mix then this is Not homemade ice cream. I wish there was more control over false advertising to the consumer. She should have to pay some hefty fines for any false advertising. She has definitely benefited greatly if this information is true! There are some other “homemade” ice cream makers out there who will get my business first. Parfait, Mora, and Whidbey island.
