Pictures: Before and after light rail demolition

Photographer Joseph Songco has been documenting the before and after of Sound Transit’s light rail demolition across Seattle. Below are his shots of Capitol Hill’s new voids. Hoping his project continues and captures the after-after construction phases.

Also, don’t forget the Olive Way exit from I-5 northbound shuts down Sunday night and stays closed for the next year to prepare the area for light rail tunneling.

I’m pretty excited to see this progress, even if it the area is a messy pit compared to what it once was. Broadway is being reinvented pretty radically and will be radically new in just about 7 years. That seems like a long time, but for a change of this enormity, that’s pretty dang fast.

Of course, if this were autocratic China and not “let’s discuss everything to death even who goes first at a four-way stop no you first no YOU first” Seattle, this project would take about 4 months.

Oh well!
