Food and Drink Notes: Borscht, Barrio, Boom and more edition

  • Ramen at Boom may not be worth $10 but well worth $7 says Seattle Times
  • Seattle Metropolitan praises Zhivago’s beef, cheese, and potato piroshki & borscht 
  • Licorous Happy Hour now extended to all weekdays (Monday thru Friday 5 to 7, $5 cocktails) – note that their food menu is very limited these days (only 3 items) – as they no longer seem to offer Lark-sourced appetizers

  • Voracious finds that you may get extra values at the late night Power Hour at Anchovies & Olives
  • Barrio tweaks its offerings: offers new Lunch & Dinner items including Tacos en Cazuela (which they describe as build your own taco offering); happy hour is now both early and late (daily 4:30-6 &  10-12 Sun-Thu & 11-1 on Fri & Sat); and on Sundays, spend $25 and any wine on the list is ½ price
  • Linda’s Tavern will host its 3rd annual Ugly Sweater Party
  • Trader Joe’s on Madison expands its hours (now open at 8 instead of 10 am)
  • People’s Republic of Koffee expands from coffee stand to cafe
