Sounds like Sunday’s penultimate Broadway farmers’ market will be missing a few things because of the recent sub-freezing temperatures. Cold won’t stop you from grabbing a fresh slab of cheese and a pound of hazelnuts, however. From the Neighborhood Farmers’ Market Alliance:
The freezing temperatures took a toll on field greens this week. Farmers couldn’t make some crops budge from the frozen ground so the farm tables were a little bit short this past weekend. Warmer temps this week will ensure that spinach, arugula, chard and winter greens will be back and plentiful and ready to eat for the holidays.
This Sunday, December 20th, is the last market day for the Broadway Sunday Farmers Market. The market will be back on Mother’s Day, 2010 (May 9) and will continue every Sunday through December 19, 2010. Hours will stay the same; 11 am – 3 pm.
NEW AT THE MARKETS:
- Saddle of Lamb Double Loin Roast (spectacular looking) and hot, hot Andouille Sausage from Olsen Farms – at all three markets
Up to 5 layers.
And thick socks.
