Capitol Hill Housing survey

The affordable housing industry is going through a lot of change. At Capitol Hill Housing, we are determined to respond to this in an intentional and thoughtful manner. As a part of this process we are committed to reaching outside of our organization through focus groups and interviews with industry leaders, investors, tenants, staff and a review of the current literature and data in order to understand the threats and opportunities lying ahead in Seattle and in our industry as a whole. The voice of the Capitol Hill community is equally important to us in this project, and that is why we invite you to take this short poll.

Take our survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/capitolhillhousing

Over the next two months and with the assistance of an external expert of national breadth, staff will lead an effort to fully understand our business model and map alternate models for our board and leadership to consider. We will also take a frank and unblinking look internally in order to understand and face our strengths and weaknesses.

At the end of the day we will have a detailed map of the world we work in, a broad vision of self-identity, a new business model for succeeding in a new landscape, and a set of achievable goals and objectives toward which we can all work together.

This is by far one of the best non-profits in the city. They have performed with excellence in addressing low income and market rate housing. I have noted renovated buildings, new, larger and smaller…. what a great effort.

With cheap money, depressed real estate market it seems there would be opportunity to do more, much more of the same.

I took the survey, but, with confusion. Why consider new tracks and new ventures when you have twenty years of stellar results? It seems counterproductive to the fine mission and results of the years of hard work.

Housing is still a giant issue, for all or us, but most difficult for the categories who can’t afford current high rents. The working poor, elderly, disabled – all these folks struggle to find affordable quality permanent housing. Seattle lacks thousands of units for these folks…. in any location.

I hope CHH stays the course and enlarges its core mission and does more of the same.
