Spectator photos: A changing scene for Capitol Hill movie stores

Above, employees Chris Hirinig and Will Corr of On 15th Video assist customers with their rentals. Hirinig and Corr have worked for On 15th Video for more than five years. The store has been at its Capitol Hill location at 15th Avenue East and East Harrison Street for more than 10 years. But across the street, Video Connection, another independent video store, is going out of business. Broadway’s Hollywood Video closed down in November, but the Hill gained an independent store when Third Man Video moved from Pioneer Square to East Pine Street. Below, cult titles at On 15th Video. their rent got raised. The owner told me so on Thursday night. They are really pissed off about it since the space is a a bit of a dump…constant leakage from The Teapot vegan restaurant upstairs.
