I am deeply concerned about the growing rate of distracted driving on the roads of our state. Texting and talking on mobile devices while driving is not merely a “personal decision.” Just like drunk driving, it puts others at risk.
As a resident of our high density and eclectic neighborhood, this negligent behavior is simply unacceptable. At the moment, it is impossible to walk even one block without seeing a distracted driver.
The vote on SSB 6345 – introducing legislation to make phone-related distracted driving as socially and legally unacceptable in Washington State as drunk driving – will occur later today.
