VOLUNTEER PARK TO BE CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC ON APRIL 10
Volunteer Park, 1247 15th Ave. E on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 to accommodate the Volunteer Park Spring Classic Bike Race.
The park will be open to bicycle and foot traffic; park visitors should be aware that there will be fast-moving bicycles going through the park.
The race, sponsored by Seattle SuperSquadra Cycling Team (Team Cucina Fresca), an amateur cycling team with more than 100 members specializing in all cycling disciplines including road, cyclocross, mountain and track. For more information on the race, please see http://www.supersquadra.com/
One more brief: There’s a benefit tonight (Friday) for the family of Chris Harvey, better known as Slats. The Hill icon passed away in March. Tonight’s show at the Merchant Cafe in Pioneer Square benefits his family, according to the Facebook event listing.

I don’t know where the bad info came from, but cut jseattle a little slack on the slow update. He works very hard to make this blog happen and brings us extra-local news that we otherwise probably wouldn’t know about. But he’s still only one person and even with twitter, iPhones, and everything else, he isn’t always going to be able to be right on top of everything.

Yeah, was trying to make fun of heavy big media coverage and the TV show promotion but I failed. Was trying to be obvious enough that organizers would laugh it off. Not against flash mobs or any of the people involved. I was definitely trying to be a punk but not a mean one. Guessing by organizers media prowess this will go off just fine and Fox ratings will hang in there.
