Hill restaurants take part in Seattle Restaurant Week(s)

Between 4/18 and 4/29 (Sunday – Thursday), Hill residents can take advantage of the Seattle Restaurant Week promotion and enjoy three-course dinners for $25.  Seattle Restaurant Week builds on the legacy of “Urban Eats” (Restaurant Week’s previous moniker) and “Dine Around Seattle”.  Criticism of previous set menu promotions had centered on the limited number of restaurants that were allowed to participate and observations that “newbies” do not return and simply drive down check averages per diner.  In response to restaurants feeling disadvantaged from being excluded from a limited pool of restaurants, Seattle Restaurant Week extends participation “to any King County restaurant that can offer a value driven menu for $25” and can pay the advertising fee of between $500 and $1000 per restaurant.

We spoke to a Capitol Hill restaurant owner who participated in the “Urban Eats” promotion in previous years and these were his comments:  “I thought it was effective but a pricey promotion . . . we were making close to nothing if not losing on the food and was costly to advertise”.

All this being said – it still seems like a value for consumers.  Capitol Hill restaurant participants are the following and you can make reservations online:

  • Anchovies and Olives
  • Crush
  • Huiyona
  • Poppy
  • Quinn’s
  • Tidbit (CHS Sponsor)
  • Via Tribunali

Does the Via Trib dinner come with lots of booze and a lawyer to follow me around?
