History Project for Capitol Hill – any suggestions?

Hello, I am a graphic design student at the Art Institute of Seattle, and we are doing a proposed project for an exhibition of a Seattle neighborhood, and my group chose to focus on Capitol Hill. We need to study the history and create a fun exhibition idea and presentation.

I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for where to start/inspiration sources or just any pieces of Capitol Hill’s history that you think I definitely should start researching? I don’t want to leave out anything incredible when we could focus and create a really fun mock exhibition for my class.

Thanks!

Go up inside the water tower at volunteer park. Not only are there spectacular views, but there are history boards with good info that line the walls.

Do one about the oddfellows building, it’s been there for over 100 years.

All Pilgrims Christian Church at Broadway and Republican has archives on both Pilgrim Congregational Church and Seattle First Christian Church (formerly at 1632 Broadway). Both congregations built on Capitol Hill over 100 years ago. Depending on how much time you have for looking through stuff, you might find some good tidbits and photos.

Don’t forget the bronze dance steps all along Broadway. I’ve always wanted to know more about them.
