Elysian’s 6th annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival is coming up on October 16th and 17th. This year is even bigger than the last, with 40 different pumpkin beers being poured on both days. Festivities include pumpkin carving, themed food and of course, the tapping of Elysian’s own Great Pumpkin beer at 4:00 PM both days. It’s always a great suggestion to get there early. It’s also a good idea to take public transportation due to all the libations, a lot of the beers have a high ABV% (alcohol by volume). I asked an Elysian insider what she is looking forward to this year’s festival. “This year I am just excited as usual for the beer creativity and fun crowd vibe. I am excited that we have a lot of new guest breweries participating – some of the beer styles that have peaked my interest include lightly curry-spiced pumpkin saison, burnt pumpkin stout, sour pumpkin ales and a new honey ginger pumpkin brew from Elysian,” Corrine told me. This year is especially great for the Elysian with a silver medal won at the Great American Beer Festival for their Dark o’ the Moon Pumpkin Stout.
Tickets for the event are $18 which includes a glass (6 oz.) and six drink tokens. You can purchase extra tickets for $2.00 a piece. The festival runs noon to 10:00 PM on Saturday, October 16th and noon to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 17th. The Elysian is located at 1221 East Pike. Their website is http://www.elysianbrewing.com/
