Reminders: Hill p-patch, happy Cranksgiving, Golazo launch party, Cal Anderson vigil

Here are a few ways to get involved this Saturday before snow panic sets in:

  • Summit John p-patch soil moving party: Help volunteers shovel fresh dirt into the new p-patch across the street from the East Olive Way Starbucks. These happy folks pictured helped out on Friday.
  • First ever Cranksgiving starts in Cal Anderson Park: Gathers at 10:30 this morning, ride starts at 11:30.

The ride will start from Cal Anderson. Riders will be given a map with five grocery stores marked and a list of five items to buy. The goal is to buy at least one item at each location and get to the finish line at Genesee Park in Columbia City.

The food will be donated to Rainier Valley Food Bank, which is having a big pre-Thanksgiving distribution that day.

  • Golazo Energy launch party: Soccer-crazy sports drink start-up Golazo Energy is taking over the old BMW dealership on East Pike for their big launch party including DJs and a 4-on-4 soccer tournament. Party starts at 8 PM.
  • Lady Gaga Dance Off at Century Ballroom: Tickets available at the door only. Starts at 8 PM.
  • Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil at Cal Anderson: Facebook event page. 7-9 PM. From the Q Center:

    BYOB!! Bring Your Own Blanket!!
It is supposed to be cold on Saturday night, so please bring a blanket for yourself and one to share!!

In honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance, the Q Center will be joining the greater Seattle community, and SWOP USA (Sex Workers Outreach Project), in holding a candlelight vigil. This will be a space to show our love and respect for those murdered due to anti-transgender hatred. If you would like to bring a poem, song, prayer, or loving words, you are more than welcome and encouraged to do so. This event is open to the public.
