While, we’re on the topic of CC Attle’s planning a February 2011 re-opening in its new East Olive Way home, word comes in from Healeo across the street from CC’s old East Madison home that the demolition has begun.
We had been watching the DPD records like a hawk to see when demolition would start but, of course, missed this filing. Thanks Healeo. The building is being removed to make way for the Bullitt Foundation’s Cascadia Center development including ambitious plans for massive solar-gathering features on the headquarters.
End of an era
I am assuming RENTON’S ADDN = Renton’s Addition. If this is the case, does anyone know how this name came to be? Was it a neighborhood? How big was it? This would be neat to know purely out of historical curiousity.
There is a foul, foul odor wafting from half-demolished CC. Attle’s. Waiting at the crosswalk this morning, I nearly threw up. The whole block smells like a port-o-potty at the end of a festival weekend at the Gorge campground.
