43rd District Dems meet next week to elect new board

We’re fairly certain there aren’t many Congressional Districts out there more Democratic than Capitol Hill’s 43rd. Here’s your chance to help make sure our bluer than blue neighborhood is well represented at the grassroots level in the state. The 43rd District Democrats are meeting next week to elect new executive board members. It’s probably a little late to announce your campaign but it’s your Democratic democratic privilege to vote for local organizers. UPDATE: Show up to run, get involved — but you can’t vote. Details and information on the January 18th meeting and the current board is below.

Update from the 43rd Dems:

Just wanted to throw a quick correction –

Anyone who wants to run for a position can, they just need to be nominated at the meeting.

The only people who can vote are Precinct Committee Officers.

Currently, the Vice Chair for Elections position has no announced candidates, as the current VC for elections (me) has chosen to instead run for KCDCC Representative (against incumbent Will Affleck Asch, a/k/a will_in_seattle, as recently noted on Slog).  The other contested race is the Chair’s race.

The current announced candidates:

Chair
Scott Forbes
Chris Maryatt

Vice Chair for Elections
Ashley Parcells

Vice Chair for PCO Recruitment
Ian Wesley-Smith

Vice Chair for Programs
Julian Wheeler

Vice Chair for Communications

Vanessa Cassavant

Vice Chair for Technology

Monthly Meeting: Bi-annual district re-organization

January 18, 2011, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Want to help shape the future of the Democratic Party at the local level? Consider running for a position on the 43rd District Executive Board. The bi-annual district re-organization meeting, when executive board elections are held, will be on January 18. Read the officer descriptions (PDF – 440KB) and see if there’s a position that’s right for you!

If you plan on running, please email a candidate statement of no more than 300 words to [email protected] for posting on our website prior to the elections.
