Truck vs. scooter at 12th and Pine

Seattle Fire and police responded to a truck vs. scooter collision Wednesday just after 6 PM on 12th Ave just north of Pine. We’re still gathering information on injuries but we’re told the scooter’s rider was conscious and moving after the crash.

Traffic on 12th was diverted during the emergency and police response.

Thanks to neighbor Jody for the picture and report from the scene.

Thanks for the post. I hope the scooter driver is okay!
I was curious why an officer was directing traffic (I couldn’t see the accident). The traffic in and out of that parking lot is terrible. Between cars parked on the street close to the opening on either end, heavy pedestrian traffic, the bike lane, and in/out traffic trying to fit into that narrow opening it’s a bit of a nightmare. I try to avoid that parking area at all costs. This should be a reminder to people who use the lot to be on high alert of passing pedestrians and traffic when entering & exiting the lot.

It was my friend on the scooter. She just went into an 8 hour surgery for her pelvis which was broken in 4 places. Her ankle is also broken, broken rib, internal bleeding (which has stopped bleeding), and a front tooth was knocked out. But, this girl is a trooper. Big time. I talked to her a couple hours ago and she is grateful to be alive and in good spirits.
A super positive woman.
And, yes, please drive safely with extra caution in the city.

I guess that “…minor injuries” is a relative term…

So, being that Erin is MY relative, let me say I, for one don’t think a broken pelvis, broken ankles, broken rib, broken tooth and organs so maladjusted as to call for eight hours of surgery is “minor”.

As for this person who ran over my niece, she was rolling out of the liquor store, eh? Hope they tested her blood, and that she’s coolin’ her jets, courtesy of SPD! Nuff said.

This accident is an unintentional conflict to both parties. In this case, although the woman driving the suv is legally at fault, I forgive her in spirit. Both of us would turn back time if we knew how. I, unfortunately, accrued physical injuries that will take an unforeseen amount of time to heal and my company scooter has lived it’s last day. According to my medical record this week, I crushed my left ankle, broke my pelvis in six places, lacerated my kidney, broke four ribs, broke my nose and lost some teeth. My two surgeries were successful and the icy team at Harbor View Hospital have kept me in ICU and in expert care for a period of time that has done me a light year of good. I just completed my third blood transfusion and stood up for the first time today. I am blessed to have no spinal or brain injuries and should be walking independently by the time the snow falls again. Thank you for this article and photo. It has meant alot to me in communicating details of a situation that was difficult for me to evaluate in the present. God bless Seattle scooter and motorcycle riders: I scored my life saving helmet at Scoot Seattle on South Lake Union.
