Blue Moon rises on Broadway

The prophecy will be completed Thursday at 11a. First Grubwich. Then Lil’ Woody’s. Now, after two weeks of permit delays thanks to both the city *and* the county, Blue Moon Burgers Broadway opens for business Thursday morning.

Probably.

“We’ve been looking at Capitol Hill for a long time,” Blue Moon owner Charlie Olson told CHS way back in March when we first reported the incoming new burger joint. He was apparently predicting the challenging opening for the third location in his Blue Moon empire at 523 Broadway E.

After a preview event on August 5th, the restaurant was slated to open on the 6th but we’re told a hold-up on a permit from the county health inspector and a delay in a city permit related to the kitchen’s exhaust hood kept Blue Moon from its Broadway debut.

Now the stars are aligned for a Thursday, August 18th opening just in time for lunch. If you need help figuring out your order, our pals at The SunBreak have some intel to share on the burger selections.

Blue Moon joins Mod Pizza, Qdoba and Saizen Sushi as food neighbors in the Joule.

Are the owners of Blue Moon Burgers also the owners of the Blue Moon tavern on 45th? If so, great. If not, than boo. We already have a famous Seattle shrine watering hole with that name, not to mention a popular draft beer too. Maybe they’re just ignorant out-of-towners.
Regardless, they’ve helped make the name “Blue Moon” a cliche, showing no creativity in the name of their business. Now when someone says “Blue Moon”, they’ll have to specify which entity they’re speaking of.

But it is slow… I think they are having computer trouble. Maybe you should wait for the lunch Ruth to die down.
