Prosecutors: Doctor confessed to First Hill killings of partner, adopted child

The King County Prosecutor has released the probable cause document presented to a judge this weekend to justify holding Dr. Louis C. Chen in custody as charges for two counts of aggravated murder are prepared against him in Thursday morning’s First Hill slayings. The body of the document, below, describes the scene found on the 17th floor in unit 1703 of First Hill’s M Street apartments and the confession police say Chen made before he was rushed to Harborview for his injuries.

The Seattle Times reports that the woman who discovered the grisly scene was from Virginia Mason where Chen had bee scheduled to begin working.

In the CHS comments, a person who says he is Cooper’s brother posted this note about the tragedy:

As Eric’s older brother, you can’t imagine the loss I or my family feel. It didn’t matter whether he was gay or not. He was Eric. And now, he’s dead.

Regardless of the circumstances that lead to his death, NO ONE has a right to make presumptions. It is now in the hands of the court and God. Let those that knew Eric, remember him fondly, not belittle his memory with trivial bigotry and hate.

I may have never understood him fully, but he IS my little brother. I love him and will miss him, dearly.

CHS has not learned much about the child who was killed though it has been reported that the little boy was adopted and wa just about to turn three. We’ve asked Cooper’s family for more information about the couple and their child.

Chen remains hospitalized in Harborview where he was listed in serious condition over the weekend.
