Blotter | Burglar breaks into Capitol Hill’s Polish Home, man tasered after E Pike outburst

  • Your pirogi are safe. A man captured on security video entering 18th Ave’s Polish Home early last Saturday morning rifled through the association’s liquor cabinets and a storage room but left without stealing anything, representatives from the organization tell police. It’s not clear what the man was looking for but he apparently left quite a mess for members to clean up before an event scheduled for the next night. President John Golubiec tells CHS that damage was minimal and the club is open, as usual, again this Friday night.
  • A man who was kicking signs and punching windows near Pike and Broadway was shot with a taser by a Seattle Police officer last Thursday night and taken into custody. The man’s violent outburst included throwing a small table into the street and grabbing a woman by her earphones and ripping them from her head, according to the SPD report. As the officer arrived to confront the suspect near the Seattle Central plaza, the man was seen spitting in another man’s face. “Get on the ground now or you’re going to be tasered,” the officer told the man according to the SPD report. After several attempts to get the man to comply and remove his hands from his pockets, the officer “applied” the taser to the man and was able to immediately take him into custody. The man was not booked into jail because he needed treatment for a cut on his hand but faces an investigation on a laundry list of offenses including robbery, assault, obstruction and creating a disturbance.
