CHS Pics | Costumed Capitol Hill kids march on Cal Anderson, swarm Broadway

(Images: CHS)

The second annual Kids Halloween Parade in Cal Anderson grew even bigger than its 2010 debut, drawing swarms of Capitol Hill children and those who love them for a march around the park followed by trick or treating on Broadway and some free pizza thanks to PagliacciTitanium Sporkestra provided the raucous soundtrack. “Too loud,” said Snow White. “Too loud,” said a ninja. The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce didn’t appear to run out of the free Fran’s goodies they were handing out — but it was a close call. Gosh knows what would have happened if they did. There were quite a few ghosts, ghouls and goblins in attendance. Darth Vader was also there.

Gathering candy on Broadway drew better reviews from the little critics though more than a few parents were probably wishing the streetcar had already been built.

The Candy Olympics continue Monday night as some Capitol Hill streets will be transformed into trick or treat paradise — here’s a map. For more Halloween events, parties, etc., see our special Hill-oween On the List. And here’s a look at some images of Saturday’s night’s costume fun. Happy Halloween.

Fran’s did run out of candy and offered my toddler an empty Fran’s bag instead. Sad. :-(

Sorry to say that we did end up running out of Fran’s Chocolates. I hope that the generous merchants on Broadway made up for it! Next year we’ll come dressed as Boy Scouts and be a little more prepared with more delicious Hill produced Fran’s gold bites…

my daughter is 5 months old so this was her very first Halloween. As new parents on Capitol Hill it was fantastic to feel part of the community. Thank you!
