Pine near Paramount shut as SPD investigates ‘suspicious activity’

Seattle police Sunday afternoon shut Pine between 9th and the Paramount Theatre to traffic to investigate “suspicious activity” reported in the area. We are told that the Arson Bomb Squad were called out to the area around 12:30p but SPD did not provide details of what was reported or if anything was found or dealt with.

Pine was re-opened by 2p.

The Blue Man Group show scheduled for 1p at the theater appears to have opened without issue.

I was walking with my wife to the Paramount and noticed two water bottles, wrapped in duct tape, with colored liquid inside and what appeared to be long fuses sticking out of the top. They were just sitting on the sidewalk and gutter and looked as if someone threw them out of a car. They were obviously meant to look like actual bombs and I’m glad they took my report seriously. Thanks SPD!
