Gay Wedding Celebration at Central Cinema to raise funds, help moviegoers get involved

CHS community partner Three Dollar Bill Cinema is helping to kick off a summer of action on Capitol Hill as proponents of marriage equality work to galvanize their cause. The Seattle Times called the Referendum 74 campaign “low-key” so far. We’re assuming that won’t last. Wednesday night, you can join Three Dollar Bill for a double bill of “matrimony-minded classics of gay cinema” at Central Cinema and help raise money and awareness for the cause. Details below. Also on the bill this week is Thursday’s Dining out for Life event. Meanwhile, mark your calendar for the 2012 Seattle Transgender Film Festival starting May 3rd.

You’re invited to Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s Gay Wedding Celebration at Central Cinema.

Celebrate the passage of marriage equality in Washington (and help to keep it legal!) with two fun-filled, matrimony-minded classics of queer cinema. We’ll be collecting donations for Washington United for Marriage. Representatives will also be present at both screenings with information and opportunities to get involved.

7pm
I Think I Do
Alexis Arquette (back when she was a gay boy) stars in this sexy screwball romp in which old college buddies reunite at their friend’s wedding.

9pm
The Wedding Banquet
Nominated for the Best Foreign Film Academy Award, this trailblazing film from director Ang Lee (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) is a deeply touching culture-clash comedy. Under pressure from his suspicious Chinese parents, a gay man in New York arranges a marriage of convenience with his female tenant.
