CHS Pics | Happy Pride Month

How about some Tom Dewar fashion for the grooms? (Images: Alex Garland)

The crowd was a little light but the spirits were high Sunday afternoon as The Lobby Bar hosted a group of vendors showing off their wares and services for what they hope is a growing industry around gay weddings.

It was a good first step into the annual celebration of Pride on Capitol Hill and a chance to raise funds for the Washington United for Marriage cause. And, of course, there is plenty more to come — here’s a roster of the major upcoming Pride events on the Hill.

And that whole Pride Month thing? It’s official:

“Our state and county have seen great steps toward equality, but our march toward full equality under the law continues. Let’s celebrate our successes and reflect on our next steps during Gay Pride Month,” said Councilmember Joe McDermott, the sponsor of the recognition and the first-ever openly gay member of the County Council. “It is an honor to sponsor the Council’s first ever Gay Pride Month proclamation.”

Next up: The annual Pride Picnic at Volunteer Park on June 16th. We’ll have more on the big stuff — and the little stuff — as the month progresses. More images from the scene at Lobby, below.
