Woman injured in 23rd/Aloha moped crash

A woman was taken to the hospital and lanes of 23rd Ave at E Aloha were blocked Monday in a morning commute moped crash at the busy intersection.

We don’t have official details from Seattle Fire but the female rider appeared to be alert and conscious as she was carried to the waiting ambulance on a backboard and transported from the scene.

We’ll follow up with SPD to learn more about what lead to the crash. The moped could be seen on its side in the northbound lane of 23rd. A driver headed down E Aloha on the east side of 23rd was being interviewed by police at the scene.

Northbound lanes of 23rd remain impacted by the pre-8a crash and buses in the area were re-routed as an investigation of the incident continued.

More than once have I almost been run over trying to cross the street to get to my bus stop. Even when the light has turned green for me to cross, I still wait a few seconds to make sure no one runs the red light. Also, having a stop sign/stop light combo at this location doesn’t help at all.
