SPD says ‘silver pistol’ robber behind string of Capitol Hill area hold-ups arrested

Seattle Police say they have captured the street robber who has been “terrorizing” residents in a series of armed street robberies stretching from Capitol Hill to Madison Valley.

“The suspect terrorizing Capitol Hill residents was arrested last night,” the brief sent to local media Monday morning reads. Police say the suspect may have robbed up to five “Capitol Hill residents.”

Details of the arrest will be available soon.

The most recent hold-up in the string happened Friday, January 18th. Police say a man called 911 that morning o report his mother had been held up at gunpoint and had her purse taken on the street near 27th and Thomas. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a long, black jacket and brandishing a silver pistol. According to radio dispatches, the victim said the suspect had chambered a round as he threatened her during the course of the robbery.

It was the third hold-up in the area this month CHS has reported on involving a suspect threatening his victims with a silver pistol. CHS reported on this gunpoint hold-up near 21st and John Monday afternoon and a woman told police she had a gun held to her head in a robbery at 21st and Mercer on Thursday, January 10th. The area around 21st and Mercer has been especially jittery following a break-in of an occupied home that also occurred in the area in the wake of the scary hold-up.

Another armed robbery in the area occurred on Saturday, January 19th on E Union but some of the details of that incident including gun type and suspect description differed from the other reports.

The bust marks the second robbery suspect SPD hauled in over the weekend. Friday might, police arrested David Hansen a suspect in robberies in which police say the 25-year-old lured his victims with promises of sex.

He also hit the University district this Sunday, here’s the police alert email:

“Notification of a Criminal Incident – Seattle Campus

Robbery-Armed

Summary: On Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 1:23 am a UW male student reported he was at a party in the 4700 block of 21st Avenue NE when an unknown suspect displayed a silver handgun and demanded his money. The student gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled north on 21st Avenue NE. The victim was not injured. Seattle Police received this report while they were investigating a fight at the same location. A search by Seattle and University of Washington Police did not locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as a black male, 25 to 30 years of age, 5’10” to 6′ tall, heavy build, dark eyes, short hair and clean shaven, wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a black flat-bill hat.”

Way to go, SPD! Lock him away and keep him there (after a fair trial, of course).

Unfortunately he does not fit the photo and description of the suspect sheet shown to me by the SPD near our Capital Hill home last week. The photo on their sheet showed a thin black male, with corn-rowed hair reaching dow to his shoulders. He was described as about 6′ 1″ tall, and had tatoos around his neck implying membership in some gang according to the police, so perhaps we are dealing with 2 different people here.

I was going to say exactly what you say, Fritz….agree completely. Hopefully this time the thug will get a very long prison sentence.

For those who have nothing good to say about our SPD, take note of this excellent police work!

According to the PI, not only was he a felon, he killed someone as a juvenile.

I wonder how many strikes he has at age 20?
