Behind every business plan, book idea, documentary or artistic endeavor conceptualized on Capitol Hill is a passionate person who could probably use a few extra bucks.

Crowdsourcing funding platforms are helping these entrepreneurs and artists make their dreams a reality. Support your neighbors and check out a couple local projects currently seeking funding.

CONCEPT: T(OUR) Magazine
Raised: $1,125/$2,000 goal
Indiegogo campaign ends: March 15

T(OUR) Magazine, a LGBTQ-themed magazine and literary blog with Capitol Hill roots, is seeking funding to send its third issue to the printer. The magazine is published ever three months and includes essays, poetry, short stories and artwork. Funding supports printing, marketing supplies, hiring an illustrator and magazine reading party at Capitol Hill bar Vermillion. The magazine will also be for sale at Elliott Bay Book Company.

interstitalCONCEPT: INTERSTITIAL THEATRE’ S Mobile Screen
Raised: $1,715/$5,000 goal
Kickstarter campaign ends: April 4

A team of three female artists in Seattle aim to bring contemporary video art to eight different neighborhoods across Seattle via Interstitial Theatre’s Mobile Screen. The mobile art is scheduled to be in Capitol Hill on April 11. Funds go toward getting the mobile screen new wheels, paying the artists and funding next year’s tour.

revelbodyCONCEPT: Revel Body: the world’s first sonic vibrator
Raised: $9,240/$100,000 goal

Indiegogo campaign ends: April 30

Touted as the “vibrator of the future,” by Geekwire, Seattle-based Revel Body has created a vibrator inspired by the Sonicare toothbrush, and is quieter and faster than traditional models. Funding goes toward manufacturing, new products and “a lot of people very happy in the process.

CONCEPT: Little Secrets – Film
Raised: $535/ $4,000 goal
Kickstarter Campaign ends: March 21

A team of film students from Seattle Central Community College is seeking funding for their short film about three generations of a Chilean family reuniting for their grandparents’ 50th anniversary. Backers will support cast and crew during filming and provide the opportunity to have the final projects submitted to film festivals.

Really? A Sonicare ‘like’ vibrator? I guess they’re serious about taking care of all your cavities.
