Neighborhood photo bug Tim Durkan shared this shot with us from the final Sunday brunch at The Grill on Broadway. The restaurant announced last week that it was shutting its doors after a 22-year run on Capitol Hill that saw it transform from gay hangout to struggling old timer and back to a new version of its former glory before calling it quits.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
With class, sass and Aloha Spirit – Mama Tits closes the curtain on the Grill which will shut its doors tonight after 25 years on Broadway. Mimosas with Mama is the most successful and long running drag theater in Seattle. Will Mama be able to pick up the pieces and continue? Is there any doubt!
The party goes until 10 PM if the liquor holds out: “This our last dance everyone! We’re gonna party from 6pm until 10, then it’s all over!”
Meanwhile, the nostalgia runs thick on E Olive Way as patrons of the Bus Stop celebrate and mourn that watering hole’s final days.
