Police look for karaoke heckler who smashed woman’s skull in E Olive Way assault

A much-loved part of Capitol Hill’s nightlife turned violent last week after a heckler turned on a woman who told him to stop being rude outside the Crescent Tavern, witnesses tell Seattle Police.

According to the report on the attack just after midnight last Saturday morning, a woman suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding after being head butted and shoved to the ground when she told the belligerent to stop being rude to people hanging out outside the bar. Earlier, the man had been ejected from the Crescent for being “very drunk and belligerent” and “making rude remarks to the Karaoke host and the singers throughout the night.”

The man, who staff said they believed was from out of town visiting the bar with a Crescent regular, was allowed back in to apologize to the host but once again “became belligerent and was forcibly removed from the bar” where the following transpired:

The injured woman said she was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire medics but was taken to a nearby apartment where she was treated for what was believed to be a concussion. The woman said she went home to Renton where she progressively felt worse and began to vomit. Taken to a medical facility for further evaluation, she was found to have suffered a skull fracture and had blood collecting on the front and rear of her skull, according to the SPD report on the incident.

Police have collected the “bar log” containing written documentation of the night’s events and were working to ascertain where the suspect was staying during his stay in Seattle. UPDATE: SPD tells us no arrests have been made but that detectives are working the case.

I sincerely hope that the perpetrator is caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I live in the neighborhood and I’m sure the locals wouldn’t hurt their own.

How do you treat a concussion at home? I guess medics can’t force you to go to hospital, but seems like she put her life at risk by confronting the drunk and shrugging off her injury.

Yeah, here’s how: http://firstaid.webmd.com/concussion-treatment. Blaming victims isn’t cool. Seriously.

How could nobody step in on the woman’s behalf? Friday night in front of the Crescent are you kidding me?

I was across the street when this went down. They were up on the cormer of Olive and Howell and not right in front of the Crescent. It happened pretty fast, and everyone in their group seemed pretty stunned as to what had just happened.

Holy hell, I hope she recovers and I hope the perpetrator gets punished like crazy. I don’t get people sometimes.

How could they not know who it was? If he had been drinking and belligerent all night, it’s likely he had a lot of interaction with the bartender. Unless he paid with lots of cash, he paid with a credit card. Use the card to find out where he lives since it’s an assault charge. No excuse for violence in our city!

“The man, who staff said they believed was from out of town visiting the bar with a Crescent regular”

Get the info from the regular, and charge him.
