Blotter | Possible hate beating at 23rd/John, Cha Cha bar brawl

  • Possible gay bashing: A man says he is considering reporting an assault to police in which his attackers made anti-gay statements as they beat him. Cassidy Katims told a KOMO TV news crew he was attacked late Sunday night while waiting for the bus at 23rd Ave and John St. He says the suspects grabbed at his bag before yelling homophobic insults and physically assaulting him. Katims said he had not filed a police report, but was planning to meet with police. CHS has reached out to the victim who first shared details of his assault on Facebook but we’ve been unable to connect with Katims.
  • Cha Cha brawl: Police responded to an altercation in the Cha Cha Lounge’s lower level early Tuesday. According to police radio reports, around ten people were involved in the fight, some, according to a 911 caller, armed themselves with skateboards. One person was taken into custody and faces charges of property damage, disturbance, and aggravated assault, according to police.
  • Bike crash: A 60-year-old male involved in a car vs. bike crash Tuesday afternoon at E Olive Way and Denny suffered a head injury. According to a Seattle Fire Department tweet, the man was transported to Harborview Medical Center and was last reported in stable condition. He was not wearing a helmet.
  • iPhone robbery: Police were flagged down late Saturday night by a man riding in a taxi cab who alleged he was the victim of an iPhone robbery. The victim told police that he was using his phone around the area of 10 Ave E and E Denny Way when the suspect grabbed his phone and ran off. The cab driver had a finder application and tried to assist the victim in locating his phone. Police searched for the suspect but did not locate him.
  • Is this your baseball? Police recently recovered a large amount of stolen property from a stolen truck found in West Seattle. Items include a lot of jewelry, camera equipment, a signed baseball, books, and two iPhones. They’ve put a picture gallery on the SPD Blotter website, and any Seattle residents who were recently victims of burglaries of car break-ins are advised to see if their missing property is among the take.Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 2.36.47 PM

What’s with the rise in hate crimes on Capitol Hill? Oh, yea. Gentrification. Gov’t sanctified bigotry.

I know, only certain types should be allowed to live on the Hill. We should start screening people who are thinking of moving here.
