Capitol Hill Block Party takes over upper Pike and Pine and we’re looking forward to the music and arts — here’s CHS’s look at the 17th edition of the growing festival — but it’s not the only thing happening on the Hill this weekend.

- Film premiere: Free the Mind (2012) premieres Friday night and continues through Thursday August 1. The film explores the study of the power of the mind to influence the physical body. Northwest Film Forum, 7p and 9p.
- The Unblock Party lineup includes The Dip, Wizdumb, Zeta Barber and Hotline Rendezvous at Vermillion starting at 7p.
- Gruesome Playground Injuries, a play which follows the decades-spanning relationship of an accident-prone dare devil and a corrosive masochist. Runs through August 11th at various times. Washington Ensemble Theatre aka The Little Theatre, 609 19th Ave E. 7:30 p.

- Outdoor Star Trek returns to the Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park’s amphitheater

206 Zulu invites you to participate in Boogie Up The Block / Urban Arts Festival, taking place July 27-28th at Washington Hall. This two-day, free block party features various all ages entertainment, music, art, exhibits, food, dance, and a kids corner.
