Thursday night, neighbors, poets, writers, DJs and artists gathered to share work in remembrance of Melrose and Pine before the block undergoes a massive redevelopment later this year that will forever alter the mix of small, local retail and cafe culture that grew at the corner. CHS shared details of the Vigil : Inspired by Memory event and a roster of participating artists here.
The unofficial end of things “the way they were” comes October 5th when Bauhaus celebrates its 20th anniversary at Melrose and Pine — and its final day of business there until the construction is completed in a couple years. In the meantime, the much-loved coffee shop will make its home in a temporary space nearby. That location has yet to be revealed. Something to look forward to as you take a look back.
