  • Cab robbery: A woman was robbed by her cab driver after she was picked up on Capitol Hill early last Saturday morning according to a just-released SPD report.Screen Shot 2013-10-04 at 10.01.14 AMThe woman told police she began to become concerned after getting into the car around 2 AM near 11th and Pike when the driver began taking a strange route to her North Seattle residence and started arguing with the other man in the front seat about the price of cocaine.

The driver finally stopped on Roosevelt near NE 88th and demanded the woman’s money. The victim said she handed over $200 cash which only seemed to enrage the two men who then demanded she also hand over her phone. They then dumped the woman from the vehicle and left her to walk home.

The victim didn’t report the crime for several hours finally calling police Saturday night. She told police she was left feeling uneasy and scared after the robbery but was hesitant to call because she had been drunk at the time of the hold-up. Police told the victim “she shouldn’t have to be fearful or taken advantage of when being responsible,” according to the report.

Police said the woman had been able to track her phone’s location at one point to a location in Sea-Tac. The have been no arrests made in the case which is listed as “inactive” until police have more evidence to identify the suspects.

  • Skillet fire: Seattle Fire rushed to 14th and Union’s Skillet Diner Thursday night just before 6:30 PM after a small gas line caught fire and set off the building’s sprinkler system.
Seattle Fire says the flames were quickly extinguished but that water and gas to the building had to be shut off. Residents in the Chloe building reported utilities were back in order a few hours later. Damage to Skillet was limited and there were no injuries but the restaurant was closed for repairs Friday morning.
  • Creepy burglar: A woman got an unwelcome surprise when a man entered her unlocked 10th Ave E apartment last Sunday morning around 5:30 AM.
