Tallulah’s has an *official* opening date — Thursday, December 26th. CHS wrote about the latest Linda Derschang creation’s preparations for a December opening here. It’s the first Linda’s joint she’s been able to design from the start — all predecessors were built out in existing bars or restaurants. 19th and Mercer will also be graced by the new Cone & Steiner general store and market and the joint Molly Moon’s-Hello Robin cookie bakery. With all attention on the after-Christmas date, locals might watch for some early presents including Robin Wehl’s promise to have Hello Robin open Christmas Day.
TALLULAH’S Opens December 26th!
We are very proud to announce that Linda Derschang’s latest project, Tallulah’s, will officially open its doors on Thursday, December 26th 2013!
Tallulah’s is a neighborhood café located on 19th and Mercer in Capitol Hill. The restaurant is designed by Derschang, Bill Falconer and Soni Davé-Schock. The feeling of the space is inspired by a recent trip to Morocco, a love of mid-century design and the feeling of Big Sur in the 1970’s. Some of the details include vintage brass lotus light fixtures, a marble bar top, Bertoia bar stools and a very large clock.
The restaurant has a bright airy feel, opening up to a summer patio. “My goal was to create an inviting space with a sense of style, great food, and lovely drinks,” says Derschang.
The Menu:
Chef Walter Edward has created an inspired menu of simple, seasonal food that is vegetable-driven without being vegetarian. Some of our favorite menu items include baby beets with goat yogurt, a lamb burger with harissa and house fries, farro with fennel and pomegranate, and a flatbread with wild mushrooms, sherry and chévre.
The Drinks:
Our dynamic drink program is the brainchild of Bar Director Adam Fream and Assistant Bar Director Marley Tomic-Beard. The team has crafted a drink menu that will both showcase original cocktails and pay homage to the classics, such as the Cynar Americano, a Cucumber Basil Rickey and the Champs Élysées. Other beverages will include Marley’s tonic on tap, CommuniTea Kombucha and Rachel’s Ginger Beer.
We look forward to joining local favorites Kingfish Café, Monsoon, and Fuel Coffee, and welcoming our new neighbors Cone and Steiner, Molly Moon’s Ice Cream and Hello Robin.
Tallulah’s is located on 550 19th Ave E in Seattle, Washington. We are open for dinner from 4pm-12am on Sunday-Thursday and 4pm-1am on Friday and Saturday. Brunch is from 9-3 on the weekends. This looks to be a well-designed building. Excited about Cone and Steiner – City People’s Mercantile got its start in the Betty Lee Manor at the south end of the block next to Country Doctor, the original Rainbow Grocery got its start in the block to the North at E.Prospect Street, and Vios was once occupied by Dick’s Market which had a live butcher in the 70′s – what goes around comes around.
