A new Pike/Pine headquarters for LGBTQ advocacy, health, and, yes, thrift and vintage shopping will celebrate a grand opening this weekend. Seattle’s first Out of the Closet thrift shop and the relocation of its sibling AIDS Healthcare Foundation pharmacy will be officially opened with a Saturday morning ribbon cutting.

“We’re proud to partner with Gay City and provide an additional access point to testing and prevention services for community members,” said AHF’s Ses Soltani in a statement on the grand opening. “Gay City has a rich history of advocacy in King County and remains solid proponent of wellness in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.”

CHS first reported on the project here in May.

The new shop and pharmacy joins the relocated offices of Lifelong in the E Pike building between 10th and 11th formerly home to nearly 200 Polyclinic administrative employees. CHS reported earlier this year on the plans for Lifelong to make way for a new Bright Horizons daycare facility in its former E Seneca home. Slated to open in 2015, CHS advertiser Bright Horizons Seneca will provide care for nearly 200 “Infants, Toddlers, Preschool” and “Kindergarten Prep” kids.

Lifelong’s E Union thrift shop, by the way, remains and is itself getting an upgrade in coming months, according to permit filings.

It joins a healthy thrift and vintage Hill retail environment. Goodwill Seattle opened its Capitol Hill doors in May while nearby Value Village continues to say its long goodbye to 11th Ave. Red Light Vintage, Crossroads Trading, Take 2, Le FrockPretty Parlor, No Parking, and others also help keep the Hill’s recycled retail economy strong.
