December’s Capitol Hill Art Walk presents an ideal opportunity. Thursday night, dozens of Capitol Hill shops, galleries and cafes will be showing off works from photography to sculpture. And here’s the funny thing about art: If you look closely, much of it is for sale. But if you want a sure bet, check out Ghost Gallery’s 9th Annual Miniature Art Extravaganza and Retrofit Home’s 10th Annual Hundred & Under art show.

  • Ghost Gallery: 9th Annual Miniature Art Extravaganza! Over 50 local & global artists showing small work $250 and under. Opens Thurs, Dec. 11th 5–9pm. Purchased artwork is available to take home as of Dec. 12th, perfect for gifting!
  • Retrofit Home: Retrofit Home’s 10th annual Hundred & Under group art show! Mixed media. Thirteen artists…loads of fantastic local art….all of it a hundred bucks or less! Champagne reception 5–10pm.
  • Hugo House: Two openings! (love songs) is a set of 27 pen and ink drawings by Clare Johnson; artist reception 5 -7pm. Plus New-York-based artist Loren Erdrich has new paintings up in the Hugo House cabaret in collaboration with Seattle-based poet Sierra Nelson’s poetry project “I Change.”
  • Americana: “Tiger with a Dragonʼs tail” a sweetly nostalgic, delightful series of photographs by Paige Selden. From rusty metal doors, weathered wood to a glass of bubbles and a curious owl, Paige creates a playful scene including a Tiger with a Dragonʼs tail. Opening reception 6–9pm, features palm reader- Jim Barker from 7–9pm.
  • Art Primo: ALL WORK AND NO PLAY…An original collection of hand-painted toys featuring custom and hand-painted toys and art objects from nearly 30 artists from around the world. The opening party is our own take on a grown-up, winter wonderland-themed toy factory complete with snow, electric trains, and a six-foot-tall freestanding diorama installation from local Seattle collaborators, Carlos Aguilar and Ksra. 6–9pm.
  • LTD Gallery: STAR WARS 4: A NEW ART SHOW. Our 4th Annual Star Wars Art Show! Featuring original and licensed works from Acme Archives Limited. Opening reception 6–10pm.
  • Broadcast Coffee: Nathan Vass, Photography. Nathan Vass, the bus driving blogger, presents an all-analog show of his color darkroom work. nathanvass.com
  • Glasswing Shop: Vintage Workwear Showcase. On display will be a beautiful collection of vintage workwear from the 1930s-1950s curated by local collector and artist Ty Ziskis. The majority of the collection comes from France and Japan and has a worn-in patchwork quality and past life that can’t be recreated by modern clothing.
