CHS found hungry, surprisingly still thirsty crowds in search of coffee and more on 15th Ave E Thursday afternoon on a brilliantly sunny, but freezingly subdued start to 2015 on Capitol Hill. Down the street, baby Pippa and family were enjoying her first hours on the planet after a 2:13 AM birth at the Group Health Family Beginnings Birthing Center. Under plans announced in 2014, Pippa will be the last Baby New Year ever for the center as a new partnership is put in place for Group Health members and maternity services are transitioned to Swedish’s busy First Hill facility. Around 1,700 babies were born at the 15th/John Group Health facility in 2013.
