Parke Diem 2015

This weekend brings the start of Pride 2015 events to Capitol Hill and a day of EDM and DJ goodness under the sun in Volunteer Park. And you’ll have even better bus service to help get you where you’re going. Have fun.

  • Parke Diem 2015: DJs take over Volunteer Park Saturday for Parke Diem:
A full day of disc jockeying and dancing under (hopefully) sunny skies, Parke Diem features dance floor vets like Sean Majors, Pressha, Splatinum and a whole lot more manning the decks.

Expanded (and restored!) bus service begins: You’re going to start to get what your city paid for. This weekend, expanded — and in many cases, restored — Metro service comes to Capitol Hill and beyond. We detailed the Hill routes here. Here’s what Metro has to say about it:
Starting Saturday, June 6, better, more reliable King County Metro bus service will hit the streets. Riders can preview online how service will change on their route or by picking up a printed orange Rider Alert brochure.

New blue timetables also are available on buses and at Metro customer service offices. Detailed route revisions are posted online in button formatand list format. Electronic schedules will be posted online Friday, June 5. Until then, using a travel date of June 6 or later, riders can plan trips online in order to preview updated schedule information.

  • Clean Sweep: Sunday, help clean up Cal Anderson and Pike/Pine to get Pride on Capitol Hill started. Check out more Capitol Hill Pride 2015 events here.
  • Cap Hill Soccer Jam: Sunday also brings a day of 5 on 5 soccer to Seattle U for a good cause at Cap Hill Soccer Jam:

The Cap Hill Soccer Jam is a full-day tournament held annually in Capitol Hill’s Seattle University Park. Created by Seattle University’s Center For The Study Of Sport and Science along with the Master of Sport Administration and Leadership Program, the tournament is Street Soccer Seattle’s single largest fundraising event. All proceeds and donations help support Street Soccer Seattle’s on-going efforts to empower homeless individuals to achieve greater success and peace in their lives through soccer.

  • Queer film: Thursday, SIFF’s annual Gay-La features Tangerine, an examination of the lives of trans* sex workers. Find more SIFF on-Hill activity here. Also Thursday, the Northwest Film Forum hosts Queer Vision 20/20: Different from the Others.
  • Juneteenth and Hopscotch CD: Pratt Park will be filled with Juneteenth celebrations all weekend and Hopscotch CD returns for a third year with a 1.8 mile hopscotch course.Screen-Shot-2014-08-24-at-7.20.47-PM-600x313
