Seattle Police are investigating after a dead body was found inside a parked vehicle on E Pike Wednesday afternoon.

The scene on the north side of the 1000 block of E Pike near Poquitos and across from Caffe Vita was closed-off by police tape.

A SPD representative said the body was found around 3:30 PM. Police investigate all deaths and, at this point, there’s no further information about the incident in the busy Pike/Pine nightlife and entertainment area. A homicide detective was called to the scene.

UPDATE 1/14/16 8:57 AM: A spokesperson tells CHS the case remains under investigation but it appears the man died of a drug overdose. Police have identified the victim and say the car with temporary tags was not reported stolen. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and publicly identify the man who died.

The body was found around 3:30 PM by a Seattle Police parking enforcement officer who noticed an unresponsive male inside the grey BMW. Seattle Fire was called to the scene but the man was determined to be dead and police were called to investigate.

The vehicle did not have regular license plates but did display a temporary permit. Police have identified the registered owner of the car.
