Bank robbery suspect taken into custody on Capitol Hill

Police say a search for the suspect in a Monday bank robbery on MLK Way S concluded on Capitol Hill only hours later when the man was spotted at a pharmacy by an off-duty SPD employee.

CHS reported on the arrest via Twitter Monday afternoon. Seattle Police confirmed the arrest and say the man is also being investigated for possibly trying to rob the 16th Ave facility where he was taken into custody Monday. Police say the suspect was taken into custody with cash from the robbery and wearing the same clothes he had on in the morning heist. The wig-wearing robber reportedly handed bank employees a note demanding cash before fleeing the bank near the Othello light rail station.

He was spotted not long after near the Capitol Hill Group Health but police were unable to track him down. When he was spotted again an hour or so later near another medical facility, officers arrived and took the man into custody without incident.

The suspect has not yet been charged. He is being held in King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
