  • Driver charged in sex assault: A car service driver has been charged in the rape of an intoxicated woman he drove after she was kicked out of a Capitol Hill club in March 2015. Dereje Kebede, 40, faces one count of second degree attempted rape. Police say Kebede is a driver for Uber and Lyft but that he did not record a fare when he picked up the heavily intoxicated victim outside a club in the 1400 block of Broadway last March and drove her to a motel in Tukwila where they had sex. The victim told police the last thing she remembered was drinking and dancing in the club before waking up in bed with Kebede.   • Miller purse robbery: Police are searching for a suspect driving a “lime green” van and with a proclivity for public teeth brushing after an elderly woman was robbed of her purse Tuesday morning outside the Miller Community Center on 19th Ave E: Screen Shot 2016-03-18 at 1.21.55 PMAccording to the SPD report, the woman suffered a knee injury and a scrape when she was pushed to the ground. A good samaritan let the victim wait inside a car while she waited for police to arrive. There were no arrests.
  • Harvard attack: A Capitol Hill nightlife reveler was beaten and robbed inside her car on Harvard Ave early Sunday morning sometime around 2:30 AM as she waited for a car service to come pick here up:Screen Shot 2016-03-18 at 1.38.01 PMThe victim had red marks on her face and said her head hurt but was not seriously injured, according to police. There were no arrests.
  • Central District gunfire: Police investigated two gunfire incidents Wednesday in the Central District after a report of about 20 shots fired and a white sedan speeding away from 28th and Lane around 8 PM. Witnesses said they saw a male in a grey hoodie running in the street firing at the car as it sped away before he jumped into a different vehicle and also left the scene. Police found several shell casings and a cellphone on the street. Meanwhile, police were called to 23rd and Union to investigate a car with a bullet hole in the glass. It was not clear if the vehicle was related to the earlier shooting but it drew a large police response. There were no arrests.

  • Wig-wearing burglar: An early morning burglar donned a disguise to pull off a heist inside a 500 Harvard Ave E building Saturday, March 12th:Screen Shot 2016-03-18 at 1.41.35 PM
  • Big Boylston police response: A male who caused a disturbance inside a Boylston Ave apartment building and then fought with a responding police officer, drew a huge response to the street on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 9th. Police invoked the “fast back-up” protocol to aid the officer in the fight around 2:30 PM. The incident began when the suspect was acting erratically inside a nearby building:Screen Shot 2016-03-18 at 1.43.44 PMDSC01445 (1)The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault after being taken to Harborview for evaluation.
