A big tech social media manager who say says he hopes to represent voters who “feel disaffected and disconnected” from government is the eighth candidate to join the race to represent the 43rd District in Olympia — that we know of!
John Eddy, a Roosevelt resident who calls himself “a longshot candidate for the House of Representatives,” announced his candidacy last week.
Even though it was April Fools, CHS invited the Microsoft social media expert to have a chat about his campaign:
@jseattle I'd like to think I could. I mean, not everyone is on twitter, but in terms of ease of access to someone, it's invaluable.

Calling himself the “independent choice for the seat being vacated by Brady Walkinshaw,” Eddy said he has voted for “Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and even Green party candidates” in the past but feels compelled to serve because of “the lack of progress of our State House.”
“The field is large but the call to serve, especially in light of an open seat, is great,” he says in his announcement. “The lack of progress of our State House is infuriating, not the least in light of the McCleary decision and the inability to successfully pass a budget. This status quo needs to be broken.”
Earlier in March, CHS reported on the candidacy of former 43rd District Democrat chair Scott Forbes as the Montlake lawyer became the 7th candidate to join the state race. Earlier, labor organizer Marcus Courtney and trial lawyer Daniel Shih jumped into the race. They joined homeless advocate and low income housing expert Nicole Macri who was the first to publicly announce her candidacy in February. Danni Askini, executive director of the Gender Justice League, announced her campaign saying she will be the first transgender person elected to office in Washington State. Political consultant and LGBTQ advocate Thomas Pitchford and Sameer Ranade, a Capitol Hill resident and campaign associate for the Washington Environmental Council, have also joined the race.
In addition to choosing to run without declaring a party, Eddy is also not taking campaign donations. “If you’d like to support my run, I ask that you tell your friends,” his announcement reads. There is already too much money and waste in political races. If you want to give, give to the Malheur Wildlife Refuge to help clean up the mess left from earlier this year. Donate to a local charity, help your neighbors in need.”
He is married to romance author Patricia D. Eddy.

Probably not the smartest but still had a nice chat with @jseattle— Eddy for the 43 (@EddyForWA) April 2, 2016
Good! More competition for Danni Askini, who I hope is not going to win this election. Please read about that deplorable hypocrite here: realdanniaskini.wordpress.com
