CHS Pics | 4th of July 2016 fireworks from Capitol Hill’s I-5 Shores

I-5 Shores teemed with masses again Monday night for Capitol Hill views of Seattle’s 4th of July fireworks celebration over Lake Union. Across Melrose and Lakeview Blvd, CHS again found thousands of you lined up and facing northwest to see what the latest optimizations to ancient flammable powders and colorings could cook up. CHS was a fan of the corny red, white, and blue bursts in the 20-minute-plus performance’s finale.

In 2016, Seattle has boomed enough not to have any drama about how to pay for its annual Independence Day celebrations — most of them, anyhow. Earlier in the day, Seattle Parks pulled off a scaled down Cal Anderson community picnic after a few weeks of uncertainty. By night, even the uncertainty about possible drizzle had drifted away and thick crowds again gathered to watch the show. Some we found, despite warnings from SPD, also put on 4th of July performances of their own.
