Police investigate E Denny gunpoint robbery

East Precinct has seen fewer robberies — so far — this summer across the CD and Capitol Hill

Seattle Police were searching for the suspects in a gunpoint robbery reported early Wednesday morning near Summit and E Denny Way as concerns about hold-ups and muggings are on the rise despite a quieter summer than last year on Capitol Hill.

According to East Precinct radio reports, police were looking for a trio of suspects who fled after a hold-up around 1:30 AM Wednesday. The three were described by witnesses as black males in their late teens or early 20s who fled the area on foot as police arrived. The victims told police that the males were carrying what appeared to be a small, semi-automatic style handgun.

There were no immediate arrests.

A just after midnight Sunday morning mugging left this Capitol Hill barman bloodied, reports KOMO

Another Capitol Hill street robbery made the local TV news after a man was jumped and mugged while walking home early Sunday morning just north of Cal Anderson Park.

According to radio dispatches, the Sunday robbery near 10th and John also involved a group of three males but the description of the group was even more vague. Police responded to the just after midnight attack in which the victim told KOMO his pants were ripped off as he was beaten by the assailants. The arriving officers called Seattle Fire to treat the victim who was bleeding from the head but could not track down the suspects who reportedly fled the area in a red or maroon vehicle missing both a plate and a bumper.

The robberies come as summer across the Hill has — so far — seen a small dip in reported robberies compared to 2015. While muggings in June and July were reported at about the same level across the Central District and Capitol Hill, there were half as many armed hold-ups reported so far this year. Hopefully this week’s reports aren’t the start of reversing that trend.
